He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and a Master of Arts in Design for Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. His work spans drama, musicals, operas, and film/TV, with cross-cultural projects in China and the UK—including participation in renowned events like the Edinburgh Fringe and Camden Fringe, as well as collaborations with institutions such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and Bad Wolf. Praised by educators for his strong hands-on skills and efficient task execution during his studies, he excels in managing the full costume workflow, from script analysis and style development to production and on-site coordination.
Blending solid craftsmanship (including draping, hand sewing, and special fabric handling) with dramatic narrative insight, Yumu balances historical accuracy with contemporary expression—showcasing innovation through material experimentation and prop design, such as inflatable costumes and handwritten calligraphy details. Adept at adapting to diverse performance contexts, from stage to screen, he consistently achieves harmony between visual storytelling and emotional resonance, making him a versatile collaborator for both emerging teams and established troupes.
